There’s no two ways to slice it: being outdoors supports you health.
It’s good for your heart, your lungs, your body but mostly, for your soul.
When I lived in NYC, I hardly got off the island of Manhattan. And yet I remember times when I went to visit friends or family outside the city. As the bus went over the George Washington Bridge into “the country,” my body would expand, I would slow down, I would relax, hear my thoughts and mainly, I would feel more “like me”.
I didn’t want to admit it- I loved the buzz and excitement of Manhattan and everything there was TO DO.
But as I started to make health a priority, I realized that I needed some time out of the city, away from the doing and more time OUTDOORS (just being).
And believe me, I know how hard it is to PEEL yourself away from the lists, the errands, the friends and the hobbies, etc... But the pay off from being outdoors is worth it.
So this week, I would love to offer the suggestion of getting outside.
It doesn’t need to be out of the city. (Although I highly suggest a trip to Tennessee Valley (which in is Mill valley) or Mt. Tam)
A trip to Golden Gate Park, the beach or even a sitting under a tree or on the grass in your neighborhood will do.
As I mentioned in my personal note, we have the weather on our side this month. So before the bay area rain starts to blow in, take this time, breathe the fresh air, feel the sand, relax in nature…nourish your soul.
If you need some support, post on Fruition’s discussion board and ask someone else if they’d like to join you.
We are all here to support each other with our health.
