personal note from darshana

Hello Fruition Clients (past, present and future)

I am very excited to tell you about the newest addition to Fruition Health.

It's the announcement of our ON-LINE COMMUNITY BOARD

Why are we doing this?

Well mostly because you asked for it.

Alice and I always talk about how blessed we are to have spent 5 YEARS immersed at our nutrition school among people who wanted to eat well, exercise and live a healthy lifestyle.

Believe me, just like you, we went through our own challenges and we are grateful that we had the support around us to keep us on track.

We look back and think "my gosh, habits that we thought were once impossible to achieve, have become daily habits that we can't live without".

The Fruition Health 5 month program is a great start in learning how to eat well and take care of yourself. The one on one counseling sessions and cooking classes help build a community of people who are dedicated to your growth and your health!

But we also can't deny that we're like salmon swimming upstream. The current of unhealthy food and an unhealthy lifestyle is everywhere. Therefore, we want to support you as best we can to keep you focused on your health goals and life dreams.

Our online community is only the first of many amazing programs starting this fall and winter.
The Fruition Health community board is a place where members of the Fruition Health community can share experiences, exchange recipes, answer nutrition questions, make a dinner date, plan a walk with someone, or just chat with people interested in health. You will receive replies not only from the Fruition Health counselors, but also from the entire Fruition community.

Whenever we teach a workshop, hold the Women's Group or embark on our spring cleanse, we'll include a community board forum, which is a great way to get support for the amazing work that you're doing.

We will have general discussions that will be open to Fruition clients, past, present and future, as well as "closed" discussion boards, for more personal topics. (meaning women only- Sorry guysJ )

To join us on line

Go to our website
www.fruitionhealth.com
Click on the community link
then scroll down and click on
enter forum now

From the forum page, click on welcome to the fruition forum

You will see directions on how to sign up, how to post to the forum and how to introduce yourself

It takes only about 3-5 minutes

We look forward to seeing you in cyber space

Chow for now!

health tip of the month

To kick off our discussion board, instead of writing an article I want to ask YOU a question….

The question is:
Why do we fear fats?

Fats (oils, butter, and saturated fat) are a topic I get questions about from so many of my clients and students.

Back in the 70's there was so much hype about no-fat and low-fat foods. Diets came out that stated we should limit our fat intake to 10% of our diets.

Like you, I took this to heart. I didn't touch the stuff. I steered clear of anything that even looked like fat. And I was "lucky" because so many companies were making food that was fat free and low fat.

But then the question remained - why was I getting so fat?

I couldn't regulate my weight and I kept gaining and losing that same 15-20 pounds. I was unhappy with my body and I didn't know why.

But I was doing what they told me, wasn't I?

So, I have some answers for you, but first I want to hear what you have to say…

Have you ever feared fat?
Do you still?
What have you learned?
Have things changed?

Please let me know

Later today, I will be on the discussion board, posting facts about fats, my personal story and much more.

And I can't wait to read your posts!

  recipe of the month

Bringing in the yummy sweet vegetables of fall and combining them with warming ginger, makes for a great spread on bread, veggies or just out of the bowl.

Enjoy!

Sweet Potato-Ginger Butter

2 medium size sweet potatoes peeled and cubed
1c apple cider (apple juice can be substituted)
1 pinch sea salt
1 2-inch piece fresh ginger root, to yield 1 tablespoon juice

Place the sweet potato, apple cider (or juice), and salt in a saucepan.
Bring to a boil over high flame, lower the flame, and cook for 20 minutes or until soft
Drain the sweet potato; (the cooking liquid can be used for soup or as a tea)
Grate the ginger and squeeze the juice out
Blend in a food processor or blender

  client testimonial of the month

"My ongoing recovery from this long struggle with food and poor body image has been a challenging journey, but I've come further along in that journey working with Darshana than any other time in my life.

Being part of the Fruition program has been the most inspiring, challenging, and rewarding work I have ever done for myself.

Before working with Darshana, there were many days filled with constant obsessing about food, counting calories, and poor digestion from frequent binging and restricting . This unhealthy focus on food took a huge toll on my mood, energy, and made it difficult for me to really engage in life.
Darshana's empowering and creative counseling skills have helped me reach a much healthier place with food and body image that I never thought would be possible for me. I was introduced to a new world of whole foods that have played a huge part in improving my mood, digestion, and energy level. Working with Darshana has also allowed me to discover and find true joy in new hobbies and activities that have helped to expand my life in such an exciting way.

I am so grateful to this program for helping to empower me to let go of my unhealthy relationship with food and therefore opening myself up to so much more joy and pleasure in my life! I am much more engaged in life now in a way that I don't think would have been possible without this program."

FRUITION WOMEN'S HEALTH
DYNAMIC
INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP PROGRAMS

It's taken many years to establish your current eating habits and lifestyle. Making healthy changes will take time as well.
Have you thought about enlisting support from a caring health counselor who can help you create the changes you desire?

The Fruition Women's Health program can do just that.

This unique program is not a diet.
It doesn't work by imposing restrictions or attempting to eliminate the foods you love. Instead we will explore how to add the nourishing elements you need to bring yourself into balance.

If you are interested in transforming your relationship to your health, the food you eat and your body for the rest of your life contact us now at info@fruitionhealth.com or call 415-552-8344 to schedule your free initial consultation.

During the session we will review your health history in detail and discuss your health goals. Then we will work together to design a program that focuses on your specific health concerns using the tools of holistic nutrition education, coaching, cooking classes and emotional support to achieve your health goals.

We look forward to supporting you with your health!
